All dogs allowed.

I was once asked if I would photograph a couple with their cat. My answer? 'Ummmm....I'm not really sure how to reply to that. Like two people and a CAT?' Now don't get me wrong, I can appreciate a good ol' cat video as much as the next guy, but photographing a cat? Not so much my style...

I'm a dog person. I grew up always having a dog, and I assume that I'll always have a dog. They add so much to our lives between the unconditional love they give us, the funny stories and memories that we have with them...not to mention having SOMEONE who's actually excited to see us walk in the door every single night! I don't know what it is that dogs do to us but they immediately make us to start speaking in high pitched voices while saying words that don't even make sense. Please tell me it's not just me this happens to?! I love when families choose to bring their dogs along! Not only do they add more interest and storytelling to our images, but they also help us to instantly relax and just enjoy being with them (except when they don't do what we want, which NEVER happens).

When bringing your dog(s) to a photo shoot, I recommend families bring someone along to keep an eye on your furry friend while we're focusing on human-only shots. I've tried to hold onto leashes while shooting, let's just say it doesn't usually work out too well ;)

They say that photographers should only shoot what they love. It's for this reason I shoot people and dogs. Not cats.

PS: Did you see my poll on Facebook and Instagram this week? It seems like most of us feel the same way! Of the 105 people that voted, 88 are dog lovers while 17 prefer cats. Thanks for voting!
