Ali & James - Engagement Photos

Ali is the person I most look forward to seeing every six weeks, she's my hairdresser! (I bet you thought this overwhelming beauty of mine just came naturally. I know! She's THAT good ;) She's so incredibly full of life and she's one of the most genuine individuals I've been fortunate enough to come to know. This week I got to meet her fiancé James, and their two dogs Roxy and Bentley. Ali and James recently got engaged in Newport and they are in the midst of planning their destination wedding. I had such a wonderful evening with their little family!

We met at Chase Farm in Lincoln RI, which is a special place to them. They found it one day while out for a ride on James' motorcycle, and I can see why they have continued to return to it. It's is absolutely beautiful! Ali is super expressive and has the BEST laugh! It made it such a joy to shoot their session. She's the type of person who might spontaneously buy a puppy the day before our session. At a bank! Her mom is now the proud owner of a bank-purchased puppy. #notajoke. It's easy to see how James fell so hard for her, and you could feel their love radiate throughout our entire session.

If you've spent any time browsing my website you may have noted that I tend to gravitate towards black and white images. Don't get me wrong, I love the warmth that color can bring to an image, and I especially appreciate it when fall is at it's peak and the foliage shines through. But my intention is to capture who a subject is, not simply what they look like. It was once said by Ted Grant that "When you photograph people in color, you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in black and white, you photograph their souls."

And if you're in need of a phenomenal hairdresser, Ali works out of La Bella Vita Salon in Foxboro!
